Ingredients Of Swarna Bindu Prashana

Swarna bindu prashana contains three ingredients.

A ) Suddha medhya aushadhi siddha ghruta.

B ) Shuddha swarna bhasma.

C) Shuddha madhu.

Madhu is collection of pollen grains by bees. Inday today life it is observed that pollen grains acquire a great percentage in producing allergic reactions leading to many diseases.
The main reason for using madhu in Swarna bindu prashana is that when madhu is administered in low doses in childhood itself then child gradually develops resistance for allergens and it remains unaffected by allergens.

Suvarna is one of the shreshta medhya dravyas explained in ayurveda. Kashyapacharya in lehana vidhi adhyaya explains that suvarna should be used in lehana karma. As suvarna is a metal’ it can’t be administered directly. So suvarna is made into bhasma and used. This suvarna bhasma is laghu gunatmaka, easy for absorption and assimilation. It is also medha vardhaka. When it is administered in very low doses for a particular time it is known to potentiate the memory power along with immunity.

Ghruta has the unique property of acquiring the gunas of dravyas which are added to it. Medhyaushadhis like manduka parni, brahmi, guducchi , yashtimadhu, vacha etc are added to ghruta and according to the procedure it is prepared. This ghruta is useful in potentiating the mental ability.According to ayurvedaGhruta and madhu mixed in equal quantity acts as visha. This same theory is used in Swarna bindu prashana. Madhu and ghruta in equal doses is given at regular intervals. This develops resistance in the body for any type of visha. In other WORDs it produces immunity.

To whom it should be done?

It can be done only in children below the age of 5 years. Because during this period only the brain growth is maximum.

For what period it should be done?

It should be done minimum for 21 months

By swarna prashana child develops medha (mental ability), agni (digestive power), bala, aayu vardhana, it is also mangalakara, punya, vrushya, varnya, ghuha baadha nashaka. If swarna prashana is done for 1 month then child will be parama medhavi, remains unaffected by vyadhi. If done for 6 months then child will be shruta dhara ( remembers what he hears)

Swarna is known to increase immunity of cells & brings sthairya (stability) to cells as Gold itself does not react because of which we can wear gold items without need to polish it where as Silver, copper & other metals react & needs to be polished.

Also Gold attracts lot of positive energy (has been proved) because of which in Indian tradition wearing of Gold has been advised.

Hence Gold is very useful as Immune booster. And as far as the using of Gold is concerned either Swarna in bhasma form (from genuine companies) can be used or Ghrit siddhi with Gold can be done.

Sanskar of Gold have very beneficial effects.

According to susruta-sarir 10/15,

One can give lehan of suvarna bhasma with madhu and ghrit after cutting cord in jatkarma sanskar.!!!

In Ayurveda three groups of 'infectious diseases' are described:

  • Epidemic / endemic diseases
  • Contagious
  • Sporadic cases of infective nature due to graham abhishanga

Thus comes into play role of ‘ madhu-grutha-suvarna’

  • As per the research data; Emulsification takes place in their equal quantity which provides better synergistic action of the drug. Its antigenic behavior seems to be having similar property like vaccination,i.e. why it is mentioned under 'jathakarma samskara

Hence it may be expected that its antigenic effect may produce certain antibodies and remain inside the immune cells to protect from multiplication of different organisms.

  • Madhu contains allergens like pollens, yeast, some enzymes, conc.sugar base with water conc.
  • Whereas grutha contains lipid allergens like chylomicrons.Hence it may be concluded that the two allergen substances may turn to antibody after compromising with body immune cells against similar types of allergens and may have synergistic action.

Different experimental studies suggest that in honey media: yeast, bacteria (gram -ve), salmonella species are in -static form, in lipid media also the multiplication of some organisms are not possible.

  • Suvarna is proved as having bacterial action against different organisms but when it is mixed with madhu+ grutha it widens its spectrum of action to stimulate body immune cells, thus can be given as " rakshodana aushada"

Suvarnabhasma is blackish or reddish in color.

It is Snigdha, Madhur, Kashay, Sheet virya & acts as Rasayana.

The properties of Suvarna are

  1. Hridya
  2. Vishaghna
  3. Rajayakshma
  4. Urakshat
  5. Pittaj & Kaphaj Unmad
  6. Pittaj & Vata - Pittaj Shwas Kas
  7. Pittajnya prameha.
  8. Vrushya.
  9. Raktaprasadak.

Suvarna Bhasma has better benefits on:

Rasa Dhatu, Rakta Dhatu, Mansa Dhatu & Shukra Dhatu.

According to hindu shastra there is a practice of purchasing gold on the day of pushya nakshatra as it is auspicious day,and the theorey of ravana says that all the nakshatras have there own effect on different matereals. The rays radiating or emerging on the day of pushya nakshatra doubles the medicinal values present in the gold and also among all the nakshatras only pushya nakshatra is only the purusha pradhana nakshatra. so considering all these points we are giving swarna bindu prashana on pushya nakshatra .

Suvarna is one of the best medhya dravya explained in ayurveda. Kashyapacharya has explained about the use of suvarna in lehana karma. Being metal suvarna(gold) cannot be administered directly into body as a medicine. So, for this the suvarna is processed through the special procedure for making suvarna bhasma which is used as a drug. This suvarna bhasma is easy for absorption and assimilation .It is also medha vardhaka ie enhances the memory. So,when it is administered in very low doses for a particular time it is known to potentiate the memory power along with immunity.

Animal Research conducted on swarna bhasma showed the use of swarna bhasma in dose of 12.5 to 50 mg/kg body on mice weight had an stimulatory effect on peritoneal macrophages, that might be helpful to fight against infection. It was believed that macrophages achieved stimulation due to presentation of the metal to cells in fine emulsified forms. Similarly, it was also found that swarna bhasma had a restorative effect and had no any toxic effect to the liver and kidney at therapeutic dose.

Ghruta has the unique property of acquiring the gunas of dravyas which are added to it. Medhyaushadhis like manduka parni, brahmi, guducchi , yashtimadhu, vacha etc are added to ghruta and according to the procedure it is prepared. This ghruta is useful in potentiating the mental ability.

Psoriasis facts

  • Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease.
  • Psoriasis has no known cause.
  • The tendency toward developing psoriasis is inherited in genes.
  • Psoriasis is not contagious.
  • Psoriasis gets better and worse spontaneously and can have periodic remissions (clear skin).
  • Psoriasis is controllable with medication.
  • Psoriasis is currently not curable.
  • There are many promising therapies, including newer biologic drugs.
  • Future research for psoriasis is promising.

What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a noncontagious skin condition that produces red, dry plaques of thickened skin. The dry flakes and skin scales are thought to result from the rapid proliferation of skin cells that is triggered by abnormal lymphocytes from the blood . Psoriasis commonly affects the skin of the elbows, knees, and scalp.

Some people have such mild psoriasis (small, faint dry skin patches) that they may not even suspect that they have a medical skin condition. Others have very severe psoriasis where virtually their entire body is fully covered with thick, red, scaly skin.

Psoriasis is considered a non-curable, long-term (chronic) skin condition. It has a variable course, periodically improving and worsening. It is not unusual for psoriasis to spontaneously clear for years and stay in remission. Many people note a worsening of their symptoms in the colder winter months.

Psoriasis is seen worldwide, in all races, and both sexes. Although psoriasis can be seen in people of any age, from babies to seniors, most commonly patients are first diagnosed in their early adult years.

Patients with more severe psoriasis may have social embarrassment, job stress, emotional distress, and other personal issues because of the appearance of their skin.

What causes psoriasis?

The exact cause remains unknown. There may be a combination of factors, including genetic predisposition and environmental factors. It is common for psoriasis to be found in members of the same family. The immune system is thought to play a major role. Despite research over the past 30 years looking at many triggers, the "master switch" that turns on psoriasis is still a mystery.

What does psoriasis look like? What are the symptoms and signs?

Psoriasis typically looks like red or pink areas of thickened, raised, and dry skin. It classically affects areas over the elbows, knees, and scalp. Essentially any body area may be involved. It tends to be more common in areas of trauma, repeat rubbing, use, or abrasions.

Psoriasis has many different appearances. It may be small flattened bumps, large thick plaques of raised skin, red patches, and pink mildly dry skin to big flakes of dry skin that flake off.

There are several different types of psoriasis, including psoriasis vulgaris (common type), guttate psoriasis (small, drop like spots), inverse psoriasis (in the folds like of the underarms, navel, and buttocks), and pustular psoriasis (pus-filled, yellowish, small blisters). When the palms and the soles are involved, this is known as palmoplantar psoriasis.

Sometimes pulling of one of these small dry white flakes of skin causes a tiny blood spot on the skin. This is medically referred to as a special diagnostic sign in psoriasis called the Auspitz sign.

Genital lesions, especially on the head of the penis, are common. Psoriasis in moist areas like the navel or area between the buttocks (intergluteal folds) may look like flat red patches. These atypical appearances may be confused with other skin conditions like fungal infections, yeast infections, skin irritation, or bacterial Staph infections.

On the nails, it can look like very small pits (pinpoint depressions or white spots on the nail) or as larger yellowish-brown separations of the nail bed called "oil spots." Nail psoriasis may be confused with and incorrectly diagnosed as a fungal nail infection.

On the scalp, it may look like severe dandruff with dry flakes and red areas of skin. It may be difficult to tell the difference between scalp psoriasis and seborrhea (dandruff). However, the treatment is often very similar for both conditions.

White patches on skin is called leucoderma. It is always considered as a contagious disease in the society. People have a myth that it cannot be cured. The main reason for this is unsuccessful result of alopathy medicines. This disease does not occur by eating food together, living together neither it is a heredetary problem but it might be possible one might one in thousand cases where members of same family are affected by it. At present at the international level and in India itself crores of people are affected from Leucoderma.

The main reason is lack of melanin pigment in the skin.

This is caused due to disorder of auto immune system in the body so that melonocyte cells does not able to produce melanin pigment. Treatment Procedure

According to this method while consuming the medicines, first of all white patches stop growing. Regular consumption of medicines results into change of skin colour as melanin pigment automatically start forming in the body.
After two or three months pigmentation starts appearing and again after a few months white patches slowly and steadily intermingle with the normal skin colour. During this treatment two types of medicines are given to the patient. First is to take the medicine orally and second is oil to be applied directly on the white patches area .Sun bath is also advisable for fast results. This way neither bearing pain of surgery nor admitting to hospital as well as at nominal cost, one can get rid of white spots.
This treatment has no side effect.

Acne vulgaris; Cystic acne; Pimples;

Acne is a skin condition that causes pimples or "zits." This includes whiteheads, blackheads, and red, inflamed patches of skin (such as cysts).

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

Acne occurs when tiny holes on the surface of the skin become clogged. These holes are called pores.

  • Each pore opens to a follicle. A follicle contains a hair and an oil gland. The oil released by the gland helps remove old skin cells and keeps your skin soft.
  • When glands produce too much oil, the pores can become blocked. Dirt, bacteria, and cells build up. The blockage is called a plug or comedone.
  • If the top of the plug is white, it is called a whitehead
  • If the top of the plug is dark, it is called a blackhead
  • If the plug breaks open, swelling and red bumps occur.
  • Acne that is deep in your skin can cause hard, painful cysts. This is called cystic acne.

Acne is most common in teenagers, but anyone can get acne, even babies. Three out of four teenagers have some acne. Hormonal changes may cause the skin to be more oily.

Acne tends to run in families. It may be triggered by:

  • Hormonal changes related to puberty, menstrual periods, pregnancy, birth control pills, or stress
  • Greasy or oily cosmetic and hair products
  • Certain drugs (such as steroids, testosterone, estrogen and phenytoin)
  • High levels of humidity and sweating

Research does not show that chocolate, nuts, and greasy foods cause acne. However, diets high in refined sugars may be related to acne.

Acne commonly appears on the face and shoulders, but it may also occur on the trunk, arms, legs, and buttocks.

  • Blackheads
  • Crusting of skin bumps
  • Cysts
  • Papules (small red bumps)
  • Pustules
  • Redness around the skin eruptions
  • Scarring of the skin
  • Whiteheads

When hair, sebum and skin cells form a block and bacteria get to this we get eruptions called pimples. Some pores and oil glands get clogged and result in pimples. The recurrence of pimples is called acne. Hormonal changes are another major cause.

Eating chocolates or fried stuff will not make too much of a difference, but healthy eating -3 servings a day of fruits and vegetables will help. We need to drink a lot of water, have meals with whole grains and greens to avoid constipation.

Some Don’ts:

  • Wash your hands frequently and try not to touch your face too often.
  • Keep your hair from falling on the face or forehead.
  • Avoid the use of make-up; try to let the pores breathe.
  • Don’t squeeze or pinch the pimples as the membrane gets ruptured and causes the sebum and bacteria spread.
  • Don’t wash your face more than twice because the more we wash the sebaceous glands become more active and produce more sebum.

  • Instead of soap use powder made from dried orange peels or use a paste of fresh orange or lemon peels.
  • Apply fresh Aloe Vera gel on the pimples, it will soothe and heal the pimples.
  • Apple cider is extremely powerful cure to clear the pimple scars as well as pimples. Mix ½ teaspoon in a cup of water. Apply gently on the entire affected area with cotton wool and leave overnight.
  • Garlic is an excellent cure for acne - A freshly sliced pod can be gently applied on the pimple or a juice of garlic can be used, and left on for at least ½ hour. Although this stinks it is a pretty effective method.
  • Using raw papaya is a splendid method; grated papaya can be squeezed through a muslin cloth and the juice can be used. The enzyme papain is very suitable.
  • The juice of mint leaves applied overnight for 2 weeks constantly will clear acne.
  • A blend of honey and limejuice can prove to help with constant usage.
  • Change your pillow cover every day so that the infection has no way of getting back to you.
  • Gently apply some ice on your face after a warm water bath so that the pores close.

These remedies can be used for pimples and acne on the face, neck and shoulders. Women do get pimples with their menstrual cycles, which fade away on their own. Sometimes people inherit this dreaded ailment.

Overweight also contributes to the development of diabetes, hypertension, and elevated blood lipid levels, kidney and gallbladder disorders. Ayurveda's Approach to Obesity

In ayurvedic text, 'Charakacharya' has described eight 'nindyaprakruties' (undesirable constitution) according to the body constitution. Among them he has also mentioned obesity. Obesity is described as 'Medoroga' in Ayurved. It is said that it is comparatively easy to help an underweight person, rather than an overweight person. The overweight problem can be due to an actual increase in the fat component (MedaDhatu), or it can be due to malfunctioning. These, accordingly, will need different approaches. In very few cases it can be an offshoot of other metabolic disorders. Body is made of 7- Dhatus {Rasa (Lymph), Rakta (Blood), Maans (Muscle), Meda( Fat), Asthi (Bones), Majja (Nervous System) Shukra (Reproductive System)}. But in Obese fellow Meda is excessively nourished and remaining other Dhatusget malnourished. Kapha gets accumulated in between. When Kapha increases in abnormal fashion, Fat metabolism gets hampered and person becomes obese Roll of medicines with dietary correction is to remove obstructed Kapha and let all Dhatus nourish equally. It is not only the quantity of food that is important, but also the type of food one eats. It is not always necessary to go on a restricted diet, but qualitative changes and food habits can bring remarkable changes.

Treatment of Obesity Prevention is better then cure. You must take precautions rather following treatment after increase in weight. Once you are obese it is difficult to treat yourself.
